Running,dictation——让你的自我介绍与众不同

  作为一名英语教师, 你一定想在第一堂课, 给学生留下深刻的印象, 把学生的注意力和兴趣都吸引到自己所教的科目上。也许你也读到了许多关于如何做自我介绍的文章,也进行了一些尝试。不过本文作者将向你推荐一种自己尝试过、又具有特色的自我介绍,特别适合高一年级的英语老师。感兴趣的话,大家不妨试一试, 看看效果如何?
  Running dictation顾名思义就是在跑动中进行听写,主要是运用“信息差”(information gap)的原理来调动学生的探索欲。至今我已经用了三届。印象最深是,2004年秋我来现在所任教的这所学校的第一堂课, 也是用Running dictation来做自我介绍。学生非常活跃, 全都动起来了。当时还有四五个老师在听课! 当然, 还有几个老师在听课,也觉得非常新鲜、实用。具体操作如下:
  1 准备阶段
  首先, 在课前准备好两份内容有些矛盾的自我介绍, 例如:
  自我介绍(一)
  Good morning, boys and girls.
  My name is Ma Changquan. I am from Huayuan. I graduated from Hunan Normal University in 1990 and my major was English. Also, I taught myself some Russian and French in my spare time. But I have forgotten most of the latter two, just remember only a few words. I first began my teaching in a junior middle school in the country. The students there were very friendly and studied hard. I have a happy family. My wife is an English teacher, too. We have a son. Most of the time we speak English at home. I like sports and basketball is my favorite. I like singing, both Chinese and English. I hope I can help you learn English in the following three years.
  自我介绍(二)
  Good morning, class.
  My name is Ma Changquan. I was born in Jishou and finished all my middle schooling here. I graduated from University of Norttingham in UK in 2004 and English, Spanish and French were taught there. But I seldom use most of the latter two languages now. I had been in the army for two years before I began my teaching in a senior middle school. I taught both Chinese and English then. I have a happy family. My wife is a maths teacher. We have a daughter. She likes dance and singing. We speak only Chinese at home. I like playing computer games while my wife, singing Kala Ok. There is a small garden behind my house. In my spare time I like growing vegetables and flowers. Welcome to my garden!
  注意:这两份自我介绍在内容上一定要有许多矛盾之处。最好打印在A4纸上,字号稍大点,可用4号。然后复印多份。原则上保证每三个学生有一份。多了会产生“水不紧,鱼不跳”的现象;太少,学生挤做一堆看不清,难以维持课堂秩序。
  2实施过程
  第一步
  上课铃响后,我宣布上课并和学生进行简短的问候。在用英语讲活动的规则时,叫两个学生帮忙:把十多张自我介绍(一)用双面(本文来自:Www.bdfqY.cOm 千 叶帆文 摘:Running,dictation——让你的自我介绍与众不同)不干胶迅速粘贴在教室内四周的墙上,保持一米左右的间距。记住:任何学生这时都不得偷偷看,否则就是违规。将学生就近分成若干小组,四人一组。既分工又合作。其中两个去看墙上的纸条,另外两个做记录。去看墙上自我介绍的同学,要记住其内容,然后迅速地跑回来口授给记录的同学。看哪一组记录的最快最准确。最后让前三名派代表当堂念他们记录的结果。其它组的同学认真听,在听完这三组的之后再更正或补充。
  (回放:学生来回跑个不停,满头大汗,争先恐后,忙得不亦乐乎;教室里乱哄哄的,像赶集似的,没有几组那幺顺利。去看纸条内容跑回来口授的同学,不是记不下那幺长的句子,就是两人口授的内容不一致;而记录的同学呢,要幺听不清听不懂,要幺单词拼写不出来…;有比比画画的,有相互埋怨的……学生有事做了,我就轻松了。到处转转,偶尔帮助他们拼写几个单词而已。当然,前三名还是要选出来的。还要给点奖品,刺激刺激。)
  第二步
  教师在宣布第一轮的优胜者,再叫两个学生帮忙,把十多张自我介绍(二)用双面不干胶迅速地覆盖在原来的自我介绍上。规则与第一轮的基本相同。需要特别指出的是:这一次要交换角色。上一次去看墙上纸条的两个同学,这回做记录;而原来做记录的两个同学,则跑过去看纸条,记住其内容,然后跑回来口授给记录的同学。获胜的规则也同第一回的一样。
  (回放:这回学生乖多了。因为熟悉,速度也明显加快了。可是他们不再争第一了,而是觉得这两份自我介绍的内容大相径庭,前后矛盾,感到迷惑不解,甚至直呼上当!这下可好了,正中我下怀。轮到我登场了。凡是有不清楚或任何疑问,我都请学生举手用英语发问。)
  第三步
  学生问了许多问题,例如:
  What are you from?
  Are you from Huayaun or Jishou?
  Where were you born?
  How many foreign languages do you know?
  Are you good at French?
  How to say “How are you” in Russian?
  Can you speak some French?
  Which university did you study in?
  Did you really serve in the army?
  Please tell us your life as a soldier!
  Is your wife an English teacher or a maths teacher?
  What do you do in your free time?
  Are you good at basketball?
  Who is your favourite basketball player?
  How many children do you have? Who are they?
  What does your wife do?
  Is your child a boy or a girl?
  Can you sing an English song for us?
  Would you please take us to your garden this weekend?
  What does “Normal/major/latter/…”mean?
  ...
  对于这些问题,我一一给予了回答。
  第四步
  学生以My First English Lesson In High School为题, 在课后写一篇英语作文。
  3 体会
  和许多老师一样,我在第一次做这个活动时,也担心学生开不了口。当时还是在县城的一中,生源不是那幺好,许多优生都走了,留不住。但我是一个喜欢尝试的老师,不试一试又怎幺知道结果会怎样呢?结果居然让我感到意外,学生非常喜欢,课堂气氛也非常活跃。用了好几届,我发现这种自我介绍有以下好处:
  1.学生感到很新鲜,能在第一时间抓住学生的心。
  2.学生通过自己亲身实践的听说读写活动,能记住自己英语教师的有关信息。这总比教师一个人唱独角戏要好。
  3.教师可以在第一时间观察到学生的实际英语水平,为今后的教学作出恰当的诊断。
  4.可以以此为契机,适当地给学生讲讲高中英语的学习方法
  当然,自我介绍也可以作适当改变,既简单或难一点,以便更适合自己学生的层次。宁可简单一点,千万别在第一堂课就给学生当头一棒。学生学习的积极性可重要咧!可能也会有部分学生听力不好,听不懂。所以在回答完学生的提问后,可问问他们是否听懂。千万别把自己的基本信息弄错!
